Stefan Miljanic

After graduating from the American College in London with a B.A. in Women's Fashion Design. Stefan worked as a Head Designer at Tommy Hilfiger. At the end of 90's he was at Calvin Klein in the role of Design Director. Further in the career, Stefan's extensive and diverse experience consisted of top design positions at Victorinox Swiss Army, Banana Republic, and most recently, Abercrombie & Fitch where he was Vice President of Men's Design.

Deeply committed to a handcrafted and artisanal approach to fabrics and manufacturing. Stefan decided to realize his creative vision and apply his design aesthetic to a brand of his own. In Spring 2005 he established a high-end, casual luxury menswear brand - GILDED AGE - which derives inspiration from old New York.

Gilded Age utilizes organic me trials, natural dyes and natural and artisanal fabrics reminiscent of an era that predates mass production. The Brand is trusted, casual luxe denim-inspired sportswear that combines metropolitan sensibility with East Coast lifestyle.

"Our customer has high resections for quality, authenticity and a unique sense of style", says Stefan. "Gilded Age's unique design aesthetic is reflected in each of our products. They are instantly recognizable for their detailed, and carefully executed look which evokes a powerful association with style, luxury and casual lifestyle today".

In 2007, Gilded Age received WWD-DNR Magazine's "Editor Choice Award" for "Best New Denim Launch", which was followed by a February 2008 award as one of the GQ/CFDA "Best New Menswear Designers in America". For Spring/Summer 2009 Stefan collaborated with Japanese retailer Uniqlo, which resulted in couple of refreshing collections that had Gilded Age penchant for details, authenticity, quality and style. Closing out 2009 with more recognition for his inspiring collections, Stefan was recently inducted as a member of the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Gilded Age is currently sol in finest department stores and exclusive boutiques in the USA and internationally.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON?

Spring 2013 collection.

WHERE DO YOU SEE DENIM GOING NEXT?

These days I like the idea of mid-century American matinee idol attitude.... epitomized in the movies like Wild One, on Any Sunday, Two lane Blacktop, Rebel Without Cause, Never love the Stranger, etc...

WHAT CAN BE TAKEN FROM THE PAST?

As the tree needs its roots to live and grow, in the same way the present and the future needs the past to  nurture its own wants and needs.
