New limited edition collaboration
We create timeless and durable Japanese denim jeans, but also limited edition items such as the new one.
Have you ever heard about tenugui? The name comes from te and nugui, that means hand and wipe respectively. As such, the cloth was an essential item that people of the city of Edo (Japan) carried wherever they went.
Kamawanu’s tenugui are roughly 33 x 90 centimeters. Seasoned craftsmen bring back a technique used for centuries: pouring the dye over layers of bleached cotton. Each tenugui motif represents a different story, such as the most famous one, the fan-shaped or seigaiha, which is a sign of forever expanding luck.
For the collaboration Colette ASICS Tiger, phi.denim worked with Kamawanu to deliver one pair of jean made of a 14oz denim fabric, red selvedge and a relaxed waist tapered legs fit. Look at the design of the back right pocket that combines the technologies of laser cutting and bonding film. Incredible, isn’t it? And what about the precise cut able to give a timeless and unique signature style.
You must be very lucky to have your own pair: this denim has been produced in a very limited quantity, 5 pieces only, and is available only at colette, the Paris based boutique.
