Arigatò Mr. Tsunemi
Ok Stop. We need to revise some history here, you really wanna get your facts straight when talking about Edwin, which for all us freaks actually means Denim (that capital D is not a type-o).
Tilt that W over and anagram the name. Yes that’s what you get. Denim. Period.
We are talking about a company here that actually invented stone washing, yes them. A company that created what we mean now with: “Japanese Denim dude” (Scandinavian hip designer talking about his jeans at Le Baron, China Town in NY).
In the beginning of the 50’s American denim was cheaper and of better quality than the newly produced Japanese one. Mr. Tsunemi decided to make his own, and crafted his first Made in Japan pair of Denim jeans in 1961.
He loved the used feel and for this as previously said, he invented stone washing. The first ever 16oz ring-spun, the ‘old wash’ and the “new vintage”, endless are the turning points in the industry created by Edwin.
Ok, so if now amongst Denim freaks there is this mania about Japanese Denim it’s because of Mr. Tsunemi at Edwin.
I just realize there is no mention about the collection. Yes. None, nada, niente. Edwin collection is ever changing but bears tradition in shape, colour, washing and above all looks and material as its main concern. It’s pure Rawness and comfort, tradition and legacy. It’s pure dedication and love for Denim at it’s purest form.
Arigatò Mr. Tsunemi.
Sorry for the History lesson guys.
