Candiani Denim looms over Denim Days in Amsterdam
During this year’s Amsterdam Denim Days, Italy’s premium denim mill and the industry’s finest apprentices unite: students of the Amsterdam Fashion Institute and the Jean School will co-create exclusive custom jeans with Candiani Denim.
At the Zuiveringshal West, Westergasfabriek, Candiani Denim will install a 1950s’ Picanol loom and a Denim Atelier to take denim freaks on the journey from thread to finished product. From loom to legs: for a €120 donation, selected invitees will have the opportunity to create their own unique pair of premium selvedge denim jeans by selecting denim weight, styling and trimming details.
Amsterdam’s raw nonchalance and Italy’s supreme quality are coupled with the creative genius of the makers: Candiani Denim’s loom will be weaving the fabric live and the students will be creating the customised jeans on the spot – a “loom state” journey that starts and ends with jeans created in the heart of the contemporary denim capital of the world.
Donations will be used to fund a Denim Archive in the city center, inside the House of Denim facility in de Hallen. Scoring a pair of these one-of-a-kind Jeans allows VIP access to Archive.
