Black: The New Black
We are in the middle of the Spring, colors should pop up, but Denim is still black.
Interesting.
This is the second, maybe the third year, we see so much black Denim around, even in Spring and Summer collections.
Black is dressier, black fits the night, the skinny legs, the bigger curves, the bikers and leather jackets.
There is a whole new generation of washed down black Denim, from stones to acid washes,
no matter if it’s black over-dyed or black warp and white fill classic Denim.
Maybe it is time for black not to stay black any longer and here we go with more and more shades of grey.
For sure this new black wave is directly competing against Indigo in a “Neo-Grunge” race to fashion.
According to Alberto Candiani (Global Manager at Candiani Denim), black Denim reached over 20% of his mill production.
“Our black Denim is very easy to be washed and treated, just like Indigo” Alberto says.
“From rigid to super-stretch, from 7 to 15 Oz, black is in every customer’s line, in every single season”.
Candiani has just launched a new black selvedge Denim capsule which immediately went sold out.
“We definitely have a very special way of dyeing our yarns with black sulfur” Alberto does not reveal the secret.
“If you combine our blacks versatility with the exclusive technology we created to make selvedge Denim stretch and performing,
Well, we have a very unique product and the market has responded incredibly well”.
