Candiani Denim Symphonie is a neo-futurist project realized by Alberto Candiani.
We introduce you the interview that we have realized with Alberto Candiani, owner of the renowned Denim Mill Candiani and music producer, after the live performance during the opening party of the Bread & Butter winter edition.
Where does your passion for music come from?
The passion for music it’s in my nature, it’s the instinct that brought me, at the age of 13 y.o, to approach the world of music production.
This was mixed with my total, extreme rebellion towards what has now become one of the things I love most, DENIM. The typical, teen aged rejection that makes you hate whatever your family does and lead you to find your way and live your life, disregarding any of your own family’s advices. Two different roads then, that (fortunately) joined into one.
Time passed and my initial DJ career turned into a musical producer career and finally my passion for live music, the one you literally play, took over and between 2008 and 2009 my band Army of the Universe was founded to which I try to dedicate all my free time, with lots of time spent in studio and touring around the world.
How was born the denim symphonie idea?
My musical tastes tend to sound experimentation, sometimes pushing me to the borders of “noisiness”. the idea of adding a percussion element coming from a loom (which symbolizes, after all, what I call “my real job”) has come to my mind some time ago. I recorded the sound of one single looms and more than one loom together with the idea of turning it into a track; then with the help of my band, friends and colleagues, we turned all this into a Live.
What does this would like to tell?
It aims to tell how a sound could become compulsive, how it can go in depth of each of us and how it could become the metronome of one’s life.
Where did you get your inspiration from?
Of course, my first source of inspiration is my band but, most of all I have been inspired by Nine Inch Nails and Rammstein. In fact, I don’t think there is a way of combining an industrial sound with any other musical genres but the experimental /industrial ones.
You did an outstanding performance, who are the other members of the band?
As I was saying before, there are 2 of my closest friends and colleagues (and not bad musicians by the way!) Giorgio Figini and Simon Giuliani, respectively guitar and bass, and of course 2 members of my band: Lord the voice and Dave who started playing guitar but is now a drummer
