1st Anniversary Specials: Katori & Otobe
It’s said that the first year of life is the most important. And it is true.
For Indigo People it was a year of experimenting, reinventing and close collaboration with the artisans from several different communities. But they also revolutions the denim world by meetin denim lovers and talking to experts of the field.
After this year Indigo People want to celebrate the first anniversary with the special designend Katori and Otobe scarf for the autumn/winter 2014. They are deep natural indigo colored with traditional handloom and comprehensive weaving patterns. And to emphasize the uniqueness of these scarves, they are delivered in a cotton bag that has been manually dyed in natural indigo.
Indigo People’s autumn/winter 2014 collection is a tribute to the long lasting beauty of indigo by showing the wonderful combination of handcrafted scarves with authentic workwear. The workwear outfits and the old factory setting provide the ideal backdrop for showcasing Indigo People’s unique scarves that have been handloomed with the greatest passion.
The company mixes up the affection for traditional craftsmanship and the love of natural indigo. They always combine contemporary design with authentic techniques. Weavers start the process by manually spinning the raw, unbleached and unprocessed cotton into weaving yarns. The manual spinning of the raw cotton creates a characteristic slubbiness in the yarn, which gives the fabric a remarkable aesthetic.
Indigo people works with different artisan communities, each with it’s own specialization in weaving technique such as “ikat”, “open weave’” and “4-grill”. This production method can result in little imperfections. The beauty of these imperfections give each product a unique appearance.
