Born in Gothenburg in 1963, Maria has worked as art direcor and designer for JC for over ten years, followed by three years at LEE Europe, as design manager.
In 2001 she launched her own brand Nudie Jeans, one of the most succesful European brands of the contemporary Denim generation. Maria does not like to talk to much about herself but Nudie does it for her. The brand reflects her simplicity, but also her sophisticated taste, with a pretty Swedish accent, surrended by a very conscious respect of the environment and ecologichal matters.
Axel and Victor has hang out with Maria several times and if they have to pick a favourite “cuddler”, well that would be Maria Erixon.
WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON?
I have been working on fall/winter 2013, both Denim and tops for Nudie Jeans Co. I am now focusing on a more general creative aspect which concerne the whole brand image.
WHERE DO YOU SEE DENIM GOING NEXT?
I can see the difference between men’s and women’s Denim getting bigger and bigger. I consider this a little sad for the real Denim lovers who like ridgid heavy Denim.
WHAT CAN BE TAKEN FROM THE PAST?
We can always look into the past by experience, and to the future with quiricity. The mix between the both is present.
