The emotional side of denim
PeppinoPeppino Denim brand is the result of the skillful combination of Made in Italy with the simplicity of the Japanese aesthetic. If you haven’t heard anything from this premium denim line for women, now the time has come.
On one hand Italian garments and fabrics (Candiani Denim and Berto Industria Tessile); on the other the volumes and details of the Japanese workwear and military pants & jackets (with YKK contribution).
Comfortable, ironic, unconventional but most of all superior quality: this is PeppinoPeppino by Simona Testucci, who launched the first capsule collection at Pitti2019.
After working in the fashion industry for 20 years, always fascinated by denim niche brands, authentic craftsmanship and vintage clothing, in 2015 Simona founded a web magazine, but that wasn’t enough. She felt that something was missing and not only in her life, but in denim industry too: the emotion. “The majority of denim brands offer the same things, in terms of washes and fits, no matter how much of the cost of the product is, while the luxury brands offer super expensive and fashionable styles, not easy to wear in your everyday life,” she said. “I started PeppinoPeppino because I felt there was a void in the market and I felt I could address that void. The denim market is definitely saturated. However, I do believe that there is still so much to explore especially when it comes to shapes and fits”.
PeppinoPeppino’s mission is to explore the unexplored potentialities of denim, with unusual and unexpected silhouettes. A new, untraditional and anti-fashion way of interpreting and wearing denim that combines denim and vintage pieces that were made for real life, durability and work.
Simona doesn’t want to compromise: she will never do anything that she wouldn’t wear, but most of all, emotions are at the base of this project: “Made in Italy is still an additional value. I am not interested in easy margins, relocating the production abroad. I want to offer to my customers timeless and high-quality products that last for a long time and get better and better with every day wear” she added.
That’s why PeppinoPeppino clothes have been creating with Italian and Turkish fabrics, coming from some of the best mills in the market: Candiani, Isko and Berto. And with regards to Alessio Berto: “He has become also a friend and mentor. He is an incredibly talented pattern maker, able to translate my ideas into perfect silhouettes”, concluded Simona.
